How to get the consoleMarch 2nd, 2001

Be certain you can run Blade in windowed mode before you go any further. If you do not have the patch, then download the window.dll file, install it and test it.

Make a shortcut to blade on your desktop and name it console. Right click on it and select properties, edit the target path and add '-console' to the end, so if you installed to default directory it will now read:

"C:\Codemasters\Blade of Darkness\Bin\Blade.exe" -console

Run the game from this shorcut and in the setup box select 'window.dll' from the video box. Select configure and you should have an option to run the game in windowed mode. For resolution you should chose an option that is smaller than your desktop resolution. You should be able to see the console now.

Start the game and get as far as the front end menu. Now press the Windows key on your keyboard, and click somewhere on your desktop away from the game window. You should now be able to use your mouse cursor to drag the console window (grab it at the top) outside the game window and onto your desktop. When playing the game you will need to press the Windows key again in order to use the console.

One last thing you need to do is open the dialogue box in the console. Near the bottom there is a horizontal scroll bar, use the left mouse button to grab just below this and drag upwards. If done correctly you should now have a white dialogue box with a flashing cursor in it.

Okay, to test, lets load a level using the console. In the console dialogue box enter the following (case sensitive)...

Bladex.LoadLevel("tomb_m7")
